1. What is Authentic Creations?
Authentic Creations is a partnership. The principals of the partnership are Ronald and Mary
Lee Laitsch.
2. How long has Authentic Creations been representing
authors?
Authentic Creations has been representing authors since 1993.
3. Who at Authentic Creations will actually represent my
work?
Mary Lee and Ronald Laitsch, Authentic Creations' principals, personally oversee all of the
representation.
4. Does Authentic Creations keep the author appraised of
the status of the manuscript during the submission process?
Yes. Authentic Creations endeavors to keep the author fully informed and involved
throughout the submission process. We regularly send out statements regarding manuscript
submission and acceptance status. Moreover, Mary Lee and Ronald are always available via
telephone or e-mail to answer specific questions about the submission status of an author's
work.
5. What procedures does Authentic Creations follow when a
publisher offers a book contract?
When a manuscript is accepted for publication, Authentic Creations immediately notifies the
author by telephone and provides the author with a copy of the publisher's contract. After the
author has a chance to review the contract, we discuss the terms of the contract, describe
provisions in the contract which might be modified to further enhance the author's career goals,
and answer any questions the author might have about the contact's specific language. These
discussions are not meant to replace an in-depth review by the author's attorney, but to provide a
level of comfort for the author in understanding the rather complex phrasing used in intellectual
property contracts.
6. What guidance does Authentic Creations provide its
authors?
It is Authentic Creations' goal to have long-lasting, personal relationships with our authors.
To that end, we strive to provide sound advice. This may include advice on how the author may
reach his or her literary goals, project development, or ways to modify or revise a current
work-in-progress.
7. Does Authentic Creations charge any up-front or reading
fees?
No.
